Mary Appeared in
Rwanda, Bishop Says
VATICAN CITY, JULY 1,
2001 (Zenit.org).- The Virgin Mary's reported
apparitions in Rwanda, said to have occurred from 1981 to 1983, received the
first official recognition.
Bishop Augustine Misago of the Diocese of
Gikongoro confirmed their authenticity, as well as the good faith of the
visionaries, during a Mass celebrated in the Cathedral of Gikongoro.
The
nuncio and all Rwanda's bishops attended the Mass. On Friday, the Holy See
published an explanatory note written by the diocese.
