COMFORTING
PROMISES OF THE BIBLE:
~NEW
TESTAMENT~
“For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.” Romans 15:4
Matthew
5:3-12
Blessed are
the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are
they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are
the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are
they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
Blessed are
the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are
the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
Blessed are
the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
Blessed are
they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of
heaven.
Blessed are
ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of
evil against you falsely, for my sake.
Rejoice,
and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted
they the prophets which were before you.
Matthew
For verily
I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in
no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
Matthew
6:6 (see also verse 18)

when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray
to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall
reward thee openly.
Matthew
6:8
Be not ye
therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need
of, before ye ask him.
Matthew
6:33-34 (see also Luke
But seek
ye first the

not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and
hid, that shall not be known.

findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake
shall find it.

11:6 (see also Luke
And blessed
is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.
Matthew
11:28-30
Come
unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take my
yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall
find rest unto your souls.
For my
yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Matthew
12:50
For
whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my
brother, and sister, and mother.
Matthew
13:43
Then
shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.
Matthew
16:27
For the
Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he
shall reward every man according to his works.
Matthew
18:4
Whosoever
therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in
the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew
18:19-20
Again I say
unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that
they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.
For
where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of
them.
Matthew
24:13 (see also Matthew
But he
that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
Matthew
24:29-31 (see also Mark 13:24-27, Luke 21:25-28, 31)
Immediately
after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon
shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers
of the heavens shall be shaken:
And then
shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the
tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the
clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
And he
shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather
together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
Matthew
24:35 (see also Mark
Heaven
and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
Matthew
28:19-20
Go ye
therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and
of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Teaching
them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am
with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Mark
For
whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life
for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it.
Mark
Jesus said
unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that
believeth.
Mark
Whosoever
shall receive one of such children in my name, receiveth me: and whosoever
shall receive me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me.
Mark
And Jesus
looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for
with God all things are possible.
Mark
Therefore I
say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye
receive them, and ye shall have them.
Mark
But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost.
Mark 16:17-18
"And these
signs shall follow them that believe; In my name
shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall
take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them;
they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover."
Luke
1:70-75
As he spake
by the mouth of his holy prophets, which have been since the world began:
That we
should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us;
To
perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant;
The oath
which he sware to our father Abraham,
That he
would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies
might serve him without fear,
In
holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life.
Luke
3:5-6
Every
valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and
the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth;
And all
flesh shall see the salvation of God.
Luke
6:20-23
And he
lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed be ye poor: for yours
is the kingdom of God.
Blessed
are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now:
for ye shall laugh.
Blessed
are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their
company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of
man's sake.
Rejoice
ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their
fathers unto the prophets.
Luke
6:35
But love
ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your
reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is
kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.
Luke
11:9-10 (see also Matthew 7:7-8)
And I say
unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock,
and it shall be opened unto you.
For
every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that
knocketh it shall be opened.
Luke
12:6-7
Are not
five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before
God?
But even
the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of
more value than many sparrows.
Luke
12:32
Fear
not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the
kingdom.
Luke
13:30 (see also 14:11, Matthew 20:16)
And,
behold, there are last which shall be first, and there are first which shall
be last.
Luke
15:10 (see also verse 7)
Likewise,
I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one
sinner that repenteth.
Luke
18:29-30 (see also Mark 10:29-30, Matthew 19:29)
And he said
unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or
parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God's sake,
Who
shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come
life everlasting.
Luke
19:10 (see also Matthew 18:11)
For the
Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.
John
1:12-13
But as
many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to
them that believe on his name.
John
5:24
Verily,
verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that
sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is
passed from death unto life.
John
8:32
And ye
shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
John
8:51
Verily,
verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.
John
10:9
I am the
door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out,
and find pasture.
John
10:28
And I
give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man
pluck them out of my hand.
John
15:7
If ye
abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall
be done unto you.
John
11:25-26
Jesus said
unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me,
though he were dead, yet shall he live:
And
whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
John
12:26
If any
man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant
be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.
John
14:1-3
Let not
your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
In my
Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I
go to prepare a place for you.
And if I
go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself;
that where I am, there ye may be also.
John
14:14
If ye
shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
John
16:33
These
things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall
have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
John
20:29
Jesus saith
unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are
they that have not seen, and yet have believed.
Acts
2:21
And it
shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall
be saved.
Acts
2:38-39
Then Peter
said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of
Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the
Holy Ghost.
For the
promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even
as many as the LORD our God shall call.
Acts
10:34-35
Then Peter
opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter
of persons:
But in
every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with
him.
Acts
10:43
To him
give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him
shall receive remission of sins.
Acts
13:39
And by
him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be
justified by the law of Moses.
Acts
17:26-28
And hath
made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth,
and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their
habitation;
That
they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him,
though he be not far from every one of us:
For in
him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For
we are also his offspring.
Acts
20:32
And now,
brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able
to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are
sanctified.
Acts
26:18
To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.
Romans
1:16
For I am
not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto
salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
For
therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is
written, The just shall live by faith
Romans
2:2, 6-7, 10-11
But we
are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such
things.
Who will
render to every man according to his deeds:
To them
who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and
immortality, eternal life:
But
glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and
also to the Gentile:
For
there is no respect of persons with God.
Romans
2:28-29
For he is
not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward
in the flesh:
But he
is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the
spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.
Romans
3:22-26
Even the
righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all
them that believe: for there is no difference:
For all
have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Being
justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
Whom God
hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his
righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance
of God;
To
declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the
justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
Romans
4:20-25
He
(Abraham) staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong
in faith, giving glory to God;
And being
fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
And
therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.
Now it
was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him;
But for
us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus
our Lord from the dead;
Who was
delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.
Romans
5:1-2
Therefore
being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
By whom
also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in
hope of the glory of God.
Romans
5:5
And hope
maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the
Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
Romans
5:8-10
But God
commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died
for us.
Much
more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath
through him.
For if,
when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much
more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
Romans
5:11
And not
only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we
have now received the atonement.
Romans
5:17-21
For if
by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive
abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one,
Jesus Christ.)
Therefore
as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by
the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of
life.
For as
by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one
shall many be made righteous.
Moreover
the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace
did much more abound:
That as
sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto
eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans
6:8-11
Now if
we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:
Knowing
that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more
dominion over him.
For in
that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.
Likewise
reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans
6:22
But now
being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto
holiness, and the end everlasting life.
Romans
6:23
For the
wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus
Christ our Lord.
Romans
7:12
Wherefore
the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.
Romans
8:1
There is
therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not
after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Romans
8:10-11
And if
Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life
because of righteousness.
But if
the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that
raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his
Spirit that dwelleth in you.
Romans
8:14
For as
many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
Romans
8:18
For I
reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be
compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
Romans
8:26-27
Likewise
the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray
for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with
groanings which cannot be uttered.
And he
that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he
maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
Romans
8:28
And we
know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who
are the called according to his purpose.
Romans
8:37-39
Nay, in
all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
For I am
persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor
powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
Nor
height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from
the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans
10:9-10
That if
thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine
heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
For with
the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is
made unto salvation.
Romans
10:11-13 (see also Colossians 3:11)
For the
scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
For
there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over
all is rich unto all that call upon him.
For
whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Romans
11:5
Even so
then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of
grace.
Romans
13:1
Let every
soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God:
the powers that be are ordained of God.
Romans
14:8-9
For
whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the
Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.
For to
this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of
the dead and living.
Romans
14:17-18
For the
kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in
the Holy Ghost.
For he
that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men.
Romans
15:4
For
whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we
through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
1
Corinthians 1:5-9
That in
every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge;
Even as
the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you:
So that
ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ:
Who
shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our
Lord Jesus Christ.
God is
faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ
our Lord.
1
Corinthians 1:18
For the
preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which
are saved it is the power of God.
1
Corinthians 1:24-25
But unto
them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the
wisdom of God.
Because
the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger
than men.
1
Corinthians 1:30
But of
him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and
righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
1
Corinthians 2:9-12
But as it
is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the
heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
But God
hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things,
yea, the deep things of God.
For what
man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even
so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
Now we
have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God;
that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
1
Corinthians 3:6-8
I have
planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.
So then
neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that
giveth the increase.
Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every
man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.
1
Corinthians 3:11
For
other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
1
Corinthians 3:19-23
For the
wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the
wise in their own craftiness.
And
again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.
Therefore
let no man glory in men. For all things are your's;
Whether
Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things
present, or things to come; all are your's;
And ye
are Christ's; and Christ is God's.
1
Corinthians 4:5
Therefore
judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to
light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the
hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.
1 Corinthians
4:20
For the
kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.
1
Corinthians 6:2-3
Do ye
not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by
you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?
Know ye
not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?
1
Corinthians 6:14
And God
hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by his own power.
1
Corinthians 6:19-20 (see also 1 Corinthians 3:16)
What?
know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you,
which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
For ye
are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your
spirit, which are God's.
1
Corinthians 7:22
For he
that is called in the Lord, being a servant, is the Lord's freeman: likewise
also he that is called, being free, is Christ's servant.
1
Corinthians 8:6
But to
us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and
one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.
1
Corinthians 10:13
There
hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful,
who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the
temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
1
Corinthians 12: 4-6
Now
there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
And
there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.
And
there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all
in all.
1
Corinthians 12:13
For by
one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles,
whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
1
Corinthians 14:33
For God
is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
1
Corinthians 15:20-22
But now
is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.
For
since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.
For as
in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
1
Corinthians 15:49
And as
we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the
heavenly.
1
Corinthians 15:51-54
Behold, I
shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
In a
moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall
sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
For this
corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
So when
this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put
on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death
is swallowed up in victory.
1
Corinthians 15:57-58
But thanks
be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Therefore,
my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work
of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
2
Corinthians 1:3
Blessed be God,
even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of
all comfort;
2
Corinthians 1:4-5
Who
comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which
are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
For as
the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by
Christ.
2
Corinthians 1:20
For all
the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by
us.
2
Corinthians 2:14
Now thanks
be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh
manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.
2
Corinthians 3:4-5
And such
trust have we through Christ to God-ward:
Not that
we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our
sufficiency is of God;
2
Corinthians 3:17
Now the
Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
2
Corinthians 3:18
But we
all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed
into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
2
Corinthians 4:6
For God,
who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to
give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus
Christ.
2
Corinthians 4:17-18
For our
light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more
exceeding and eternal weight of glory;
While we
look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen:
for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen
are eternal.
2
Corinthians 5:1
For we
know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a
building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
2
Corinthians 5:17
Therefore
if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away;
behold, all things are become new.
2
Corinthians 5:18-19
And all
things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath
given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
To wit,
that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their
trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
2
Corinthians 6:16-18
And what
agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the
living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I
will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Wherefore
come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the
unclean thing; and I will receive you.
And will
be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord
Almighty.
2
Corinthians 8:9
For ye
know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your
sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.
2
Corinthians 8:12
For if
there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and
not according to that he hath not.
2
Corinthians 9:7-9
Every man
according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of
necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
And God
is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all
sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:
As it is
written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness
remaineth for ever.
2
Corinthians 12:9
And he
said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect
in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that
the power of Christ may rest upon me.
2
Corinthians 13:4
For
though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God.
For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you.
2
Corinthians 13:11
Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.
Galatians
1:3-4
Grace be to
you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ,
Who gave
himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world,
according to the will of God and our Father:
Galatians
2:20
I am
crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me:
and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of
God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
Galatians
3:6-9
Even as
Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.
Know ye
therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.
And the
scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith,
preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be
blessed.
So then
they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.
Galatians
3:13-14
Christ
hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it
is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
That the
blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we
might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
Galatians
3:17
And this
I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law,
which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should
make the promise of none effect.
Galatians
3:26-29
For ye
are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
For as
many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
There is
neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male
nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
And if
ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Galatians
4:4-5
But when
the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made
under the law,
To
redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of
sons.
Galatians
4:6-7
And
because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your
hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
Wherefore
thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God
through Christ.
Galatians
5:1
Stand fast
therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not
entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
Galatians
5:5-6
For we
through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.
For in
Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but
faith which worketh by love.
Galatians
6:8-9
For he that
soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth
to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
Ephesians
1:3-12
Blessed be
the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all
spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
According
as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should
be holy and without blame before him in love:
Having
predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself,
according to the good pleasure of his will,
To the
praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the
beloved.
In whom
we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the
riches of his grace;
Wherein
he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;
Having
made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure
which he hath purposed in himself:
That in
the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all
things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in
him:
In whom
also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the
purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
That we
should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
Ephesians
2:4-7
But God,
who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
Even
when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye
are saved;)
And hath
raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ
Jesus:
That in
the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his
kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
Ephesians
2:8-10
For by
grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of
God:
Not of
works, lest any man should boast.
For we
are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath
before ordained that we should walk in them.
Ephesians
2:13-14
But now
in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of
Christ.
For he
is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of
partition between us;
Ephesians
2:19-22
Now
therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the
saints, and of the household of God;
And are
built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself
being the chief corner stone;
In whom
all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:
In whom
ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.
Ephesians
3:9-12
And to
make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the
beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus
Christ:
To the
intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be
known by the church the manifold wisdom of God,
According
to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord:
In whom
we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.
Ephesians
3:16-19
That he
would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with
might by his Spirit in the inner man;
That
Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in
love,
May be
able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth,
and height;
And to
know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with
all the fulness of God.
Ephesians
3:20
Now unto
him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think,
according to the power that worketh in us,
Ephesians
4:4-6
There is
one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
One
Lord, one faith, one baptism,
One God
and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
Ephesians
4:7
But unto
every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.
Ephesians
4:13
Till we
all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God,
unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
Ephesians
4:32
And be ye
kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for
Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
Ephesians
6:8
Knowing
that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the
Lord, whether he be bond or free.
Philippians
1:6
Being
confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will
perform it until the day of Jesus Christ
Philippians
3:15
Let us
therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be
otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.
Philippians
4:7
And the
peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds
through Christ Jesus.
Philippians
4:13
I can do
all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
Philippians
4:19
But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Colossians
1:5-6
For the
hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of
the truth of the gospel
Colossians
1:10-14
That ye
might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good
work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;
Strengthened
with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and
longsuffering with joyfulness;
Giving
thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the
inheritance of the saints in light:
Who hath
delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the
kingdom of his dear Son:
In whom
we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins
Colossians
1:20-22
And,
having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all
things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things
in heaven.
And you,
that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now
hath he reconciled
In the
body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and
unreproveable in his sight:
Colossians
1:26-27
Even the
mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made
manifest to his saints:
To whom
God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the
Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
Colossians
2:2-3
That their
hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the
full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God,
and of the Father, and of Christ;
In whom
are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
Colossians
3:3-4
For ye
are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
When
Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in
glory.
Colossians
3:23-24
And
whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
Knowing
that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve
the Lord Christ.
1
Thessalonians 1:10
And to
wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which
delivered us from the wrath to come.
1
Thessalonians 4:14-17
For if
we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in
Jesus will God bring with him.
For this
we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain
unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
For the
Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the
archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
Then we
which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds,
to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
1
Thessalonians 5:9-10
For God
hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus
Christ,
Who died
for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
1
Thessalonians 5:24
Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
2
Thessalonians 1:4-7
So that we
ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in
all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure:
Which is
a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted
worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:
Seeing
it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble
you;
And to
you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from
heaven with his mighty angels
2
Thessalonians 2:16-17
Now our
Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and
hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace,
Comfort
your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.
2
Thessalonians 3:3
But the
Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.
2
Thessalonians 3:16
Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all.
1
Timothy 1:15
This is
a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into
the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
1
Timothy 2:5-6
For
there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
Who gave
himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.
1
Timothy 4:4-5
For
every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received
with thanksgiving:
For it
is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
1
Timothy 4:8-9
For bodily
exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things,
having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.
This is
a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.
1
Timothy 4:10
For
therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living
God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.
1
Timothy 4:16
Take
heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this
thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.
1
Timothy 6:14-16
That thou
keep this commandment without spot, unrebukable, until the appearing of our
Lord Jesus Christ:
Which in
his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of
kings, and Lord of lords;
Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.
2
Timothy 1:7
For God
hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound
mind.
2
Timothy 1:9-10
Who hath
saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but
according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus
before the world began,
But is
now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath
abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the
gospel:
2
Timothy 2:9
Wherein I
suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not
bound.
2
Timothy 2:11-12
It is a
faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him:
If we
suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:
2
Timothy 2:19
Nevertheless
the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them
that are his. And,
let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
2
Timothy 3:15
And that
from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make
thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
2
Timothy 3:16-17
All
scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for
reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
That the
man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
2
Timothy 4:8
Henceforth
there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous
judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also
that love his appearing.
Titus
1:2
In hope
of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;
Titus
2:11-14
For the
grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
Teaching
us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly,
righteously, and godly, in this present world;
Looking
for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our
Saviour Jesus Christ;
Who gave
himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto
himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
Titus
3:4-7
But
after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,
Not by
works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved
us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
Which he
shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
Hebrews
1:1-3
God, who
at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by
the prophets,
Hath in
these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all
things, by whom also he made the worlds;
Who
being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and
upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged
our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high
Hebrews
1:10-12
And,
Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the
heavens are the works of thine hands:
They
shall perish; but thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as doth a garment;
And as a
vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the
same, and thy years shall not fail.
Hebrews
2:9-18
But we
see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of
death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death
for every man.
For it
became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing
many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through
sufferings.
For both
he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause
he is not ashamed to call them brethren,
Saying,
I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I
sing praise unto thee.
And
again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the children which
God hath given me.
Forasmuch
then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise
took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the
power of death, that is, the devil;
And
deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to
bondage.
For
verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of
Abraham.
Wherefore
in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might
be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make
reconciliation for the sins of the people.
For in
that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that
are tempted.
Hebrews
3:4
For every
house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God.
Hebrews
3:6
But
Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the
confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.
Hebrews
4:8-10
For if
Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another
day.
There
remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
For he that
is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did
from his.
Hebrews
4:12-13
For the
word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword,
piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and
marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Hebrews
4:14-16
Seeing
then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus
the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
For we
have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our
infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
Let us
therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and
find grace to help in time of need.
Hebrews
5:9
And
being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them
that obey him;
Hebrews
6:17-20 (see also Hebrews 7:24-25, 8:1-2, 6)
Wherein
God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability
of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath:
That by
two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have
a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set
before us:
Which
hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which
entereth into that within the veil;
Whither
the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever
after the order of Melchisedec.
Hebrews
7:19
For the
law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the
which we draw nigh unto God.
Hebrews
8:10-12 (see also Hebrews 10:14-17)
For this
is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days,
saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their
hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
And they
shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying,
Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.
For I
will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities
will I remember no more.
Hebrews
9:14-15
How much
more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself
without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living
God?
And for
this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for
the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they
which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.
Hebrews
9:24
For
Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the
figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of
God for us:
Hebrews
9:28
So
Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for
him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
Hebrews
10:10
By the
which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ
once for all.
Hebrews
10:23
Let us hold
fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that
promised;)
Hebrews
10:34
For ye had
compassion of me in my bonds, and took joyfully the spoiling of your goods,
knowing in yourselves that ye have in heaven a better and an enduring
substance.
Hebrews
10:37
For yet
a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.
Hebrews
11:16
But now
they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not
ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.
Hebrews
12:2
Looking
unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set
before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right
hand of the throne of God.
Hebrews
12:11
Now no
chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless
afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are
exercised thereby.
Hebrews
12:28-29
Wherefore
we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may
serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:
For our
God is a consuming fire.
Hebrews
13:5-6
Let your
conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye
have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
So that
we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do
unto me.
Hebrews
13:8
Jesus
Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
Hebrews
13:20-21
Now the
God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great
shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,
Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
James
1:2-4
My brethren,
count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
Knowing
this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
But let
patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting
nothing.
James
1:5
If any
of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and
upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
James
1:12
Blessed
is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the
crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
James
1:17-18
Every
good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father
of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
Of his
own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of
firstfruits of his creatures.
James
1:25
But
whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being
not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in
his deed.
James
2:5
Hearken,
my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith,
and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?
James
3:17-18
But the
wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be
intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without
hypocrisy.
And the
fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.
James
4:6-8
But he
giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace
unto the humble.
Submit
yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Draw
nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and
purify your hearts, ye double minded.
James
4:10
Humble
yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
James
5:15
And the
prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he
have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
James
5:16
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
1 Peter
1:3-5
Blessed
be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant
mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus
Christ from the dead,
To an
inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in
heaven for you,
Who are
kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in
the last time.
1 Peter
1:9
Receiving
the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
1 Peter
1:20-21
Who
verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in
these last times for you,
Who by
him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory;
that your faith and hope might be in God.
1 Peter
1:23
Being born
again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God,
which liveth and abideth for ever.
1 Peter
1:25
But the
word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is
preached unto you.
1 Peter
2:6
Wherefore
also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner
stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.
1 Peter
2:9
But ye
are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people;
that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of
darkness into his marvellous light;
1 Peter
2:15
For so
is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of
foolish men:
1 Peter
2:19, 21
For this
is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering
wrongfully.
For what
glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it
patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently,
this is acceptable with God.
For even
hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an
example, that ye should follow his steps:
1 Peter
2:24
Who his
own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to
sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
1 Peter
3:4
But let
it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the
ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great
price.
1 Peter
3:12
For the
eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their
prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.
1 Peter
4:8
And above
all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover
the multitude of sins.
1 Peter
5:4
And when
the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth
not away.
1 Peter
5:7
Casting
all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
1 Peter
5:10
But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
2 Peter
1:3-4
According
as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and
godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and
virtue:
Whereby
are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might
be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the
world through lust.
2 Peter
1:10-11
Wherefore
the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure:
for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:
For so
an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting
kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
2 Peter
1:20-21
Knowing
this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
For the
prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as
they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
2 Peter
2:9
The Lord
knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust
unto the day of judgment to be punished:
2 Peter
3:9
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
1 John
1:5
This then
is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is
light, and in him is no darkness at all.
1 John
1:7, 9
But if
we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with
another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
If we
confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to
cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John
2:1-2
My little
children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man
sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
And he
is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins
of the whole world.
1 John 2:5
But
whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know
we that we are in him.
1 John
2:12
I write
unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name's
sake.
1 John
2:17
And the
world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God
abideth for ever.
1 John
2:24-25
Let that
therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that
which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall
continue in the Son, and in the Father.
And this
is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.
1 John
3:1-3
Behold,
what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called
the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
Beloved,
now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we
know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as
he is.
And
every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
1 John
3:24
And he
that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we
know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.
1 John
4:4
Ye are
of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is
in you, than he that is in the world.
1 John
4:6 (see also 1 John 4:2)
We are
of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us.
Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.
1 John
4:7-10
Beloved,
let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born
of God, and knoweth God.
He that
loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
In this
was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only
begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
Herein
is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be
the propitiation for our sins.
1 John
4:12-13
No man
hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his
love is perfected in us.
Hereby
know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his
Spirit.
1 John
4:15-17, 19
Whosoever
shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.
And we
have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that
dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
Herein
is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment:
because as he is, so are we in this world.
There is
no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment.
He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
We love
him, because he first loved us.
1 John
5:1-3
Whosoever
believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth
him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.
By this
we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his
commandments.
For this
is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not
grievous.
1 John
5:4
For
whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that
overcometh the world, even our faith.
1 John
5:6
This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ;
not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth
witness, because the Spirit is truth.
1 John
5:11-12
And this
is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his
Son.
He that
hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
1 John
5:14-15
And this
is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to
his will, he heareth us:
And if
we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions
that we desired of him.
1 John
5:20
And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
2 John
1:2
For the truth's sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever.
Jude 24
Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy
Revelation
1:5-6
And from
Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead,
and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us
from our sins in his own blood,
And hath
made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion
for ever and ever. Amen.
Revelation
1:7-8
Behold,
he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced
him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.
I am
Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and
which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
Revelation
2:7 (see also Revelation 2:17)
He that
hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that
overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the
paradise of God.
Revelation
2:10-11
Fear
none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some
of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten
days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.
He that
hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that
overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.
Revelation
2:26-28
And he
that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power
over the nations:
And he
shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be
broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.
And I
will give him the morning star.
Revelation
3:5
He that
overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out
his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father,
and before his angels.
Revelation
3:10
Because
thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of
temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon
the earth.
Revelation
3:12
Him that
overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no
more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the
city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my
God: and I will write upon him my new name.
Revelation
3:19-20
As many
as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
Behold,
I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I
will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
Revelation
3:21
To him
that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also
overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
Revelation
7:14-17
And I said
unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came
out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in
the blood of the Lamb.
Therefore
are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple:
and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them.
They
shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on
them, nor any heat.
For the
Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them
unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their
eyes.
Revelation
11:15
And the
seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms
of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he
shall reign for ever and ever.
Revelation
17:14
These
shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of
lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen,
and faithful.
Revelation
20:4
And I
saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I
saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the
word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither
had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived
and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
Revelation
20:6
Blessed
and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second
death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall
reign with him a thousand years.
Revelation
21:1-7
And I
saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were
passed away; and there was no more sea.
And I
John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven,
prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
And I
heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with
men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself
shall be with them, and be their God.
And God
shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death,
neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the
former things are passed away.
And he
that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto
me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.
And he
said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I
will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
He that
overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my
son.
Revelation
21:23-27
And the
city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory
of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.
And the
nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of
the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.
And the
gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.
And they
shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it.
And
there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither
whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in
the Lamb's book of life.
Revelation
22:3-6
And
there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in
it; and his servants shall serve him:
And they
shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads.
And
there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the
sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and
ever.
And he said
unto me, These sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy
prophets sent his angel to shew unto his servants the things which must shortly
be done.
Revelation
22:12-14 (see also verse 20)
And,
behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according
as his work shall be.
I am
Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
Blessed
are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of
life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
Revelation
22:17
And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
Chapter
1
1 Blessed
is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the
way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2 But his delight is
in the law of the Lord;
and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3 And he shall be
like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in
his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall
prosper.
Chapter
2
12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when
his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in
him.
Chapter 4
3 But know that the Lord hath
set apart him that is godly for himself: the Lord will
hear when I call unto him.
Chapter 5
12 For thou, Lord, wilt bless the
righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.
Chapter 9
9 The Lord also will be a
refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.
10 And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for
thou, Lord, hast not forsaken them that
seek thee.
12 When he maketh inquisition for blood, he remembereth them: he
forgetteth not the cry of the humble.
18 For the needy shall not always be forgotten: the expectation of
the poor shall not perish for ever.
Chapter 11
7 For the righteous Lord loveth
righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.
Chapter 12
6 The words of
the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth,
purified seven times.
7 Thou shalt keep
them, O Lord, thou shalt
preserve them from this generation for ever.
Chapter 15
1Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy
holy hill?
2 He that walketh
uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.
3 He that backbiteth
not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach
against his neighbour.
4 In whose eyes a
vile person is contemned; but he honoureth them that fear the Lord. He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not.
5 He that putteth
not out his money to usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent. He that
doeth these things shall never be moved.
Chapter 16
10 For thou wilt not
leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see
corruption.
11 Thou wilt shew me
the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there
are pleasures for evermore.
Chapter 17
7 Shew thy marvellous
lovingkindness, O thou that savest by thy right hand them which put their trust
in thee from those that rise up against them.
Chapter 18
30 As for God, his
way is perfect: the word of the Lord is
tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.
Chapter 22
24 For he hath not
despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; neither hath he hid his
face from him; but when he cried unto him, he heard.
26 The meek shall eat
and be satisfied: they shall praise the Lord that
seek him: your heart shall live for ever.
Chapter 23
1The Lord is
my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to
lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my
soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4 Yea, though I walk
through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art
with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a
table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with
oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness
and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the
house of the Lord for ever.
Chapter 24
3 Who shall ascend
into the hill of the Lord?
or who shall stand in his holy place?
4 He that hath clean
hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn
deceitfully.
5 He shall receive
the blessing from the Lord,
and righteousness from the God of his salvation.
Chapter 25
8 Good and upright
is the Lord: therefore will
he teach sinners in the way.
9 The meek will he
guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.
10 All the paths of
the Lord are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his
testimonies.
11 For thy name's
sake, O Lord, pardon mine iniquity;
for it is great.
12 What man is he
that feareth the Lord?
him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose.
13 His soul shall
dwell at ease; and his seed shall inherit the earth.
14 The secret of
the Lord is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his
covenant.
15 Mine eyes are ever
toward the Lord; for he shall
pluck my feet out of the net.
Chapter 27
The Lord is
my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
2 When the wicked,
even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled
and fell.
3 Though an host
should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise
against me, in this will I be confident.
4 One thing have I
desired of the Lord,
that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.
5 For in the time of
trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall
he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.
Chapter 28
6 Blessed be
the Lord, because he hath heard the voice of my supplications.
7 The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I
am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise
him.
8 The Lord is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his
anointed.
Chapter 29
11 The Lord will give strength unto his people;
the Lord will bless his people with
peace.
Chapter 30
5 For his anger
endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night,
but joy cometh in the morning.
Chapter 31
19 Oh how great is
thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast
wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men!
20 Thou shalt hide
them in the secret of thy presence from the pride of man: thou shalt keep them
secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.
21 Blessed be
the Lord: for he hath shewed me his marvellous kindness in a strong city.
22 For I said in my
haste, I am cut off from before thine eyes: nevertheless thou heardest the
voice of my supplications when I cried unto thee.
23 O love the Lord, all ye his saints: for the Lord preserveth the faithful, and plentifully rewardeth the proud
doer.
24 Be of good
courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord.
Chapter 32
1Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is
covered.
2 Blessed is the man
unto whom the Lord imputeth
not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.
6 For this shall
every one that is godly pray unto thee in a time when thou mayest be found:
surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him.
7 Thou art my hiding
place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with
songs of deliverance. Selah.
8 I will instruct
thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine
eye.
10 Many sorrows shall
be to the wicked: but he that trusteth in the Lord,
mercy shall compass him about.
Chapter 33
12 Blessed is the
nation whose God is the Lord; and the
people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.
18 Behold, the eye of
the Lord is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his
mercy;
19 To deliver their
soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.
20 Our soul waiteth
for the Lord: he is our help
and our shield.
Chapter 34
7 The angel of
the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth
them.
8 O taste and see
that the Lord is good:
blessed is the man that trusteth in him.
9 O fear the Lord, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him.
10 The young lions do
lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the Lord shall not want any good thing.
12 What man is he
that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good?
13 Keep thy tongue
from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.
14 Depart from evil,
and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.
15 The eyes of
the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their
cry.
16 The face of
the Lord is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of
them from the earth.
17 The righteous cry,
and the Lord heareth, and
delivereth them out of all their troubles.
18 The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth
such as be of a contrite spirit.
19 Many are the
afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.
20 He keepeth all his
bones: not one of them is broken.
21 Evil shall slay
the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate.
22 The Lord redeemeth the soul of his servants: and none of them that
trust in him shall be desolate.
Chapter 37
3 Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou
shalt be fed.
4 Delight thyself
also in the Lord: and he shall
give thee the desires of thine heart.
5 Commit thy way
unto the Lord; trust also in
him; and he shall bring it to pass.
6 And he shall bring
forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.
7 Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who
prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
8 Cease from anger,
and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.
9 For evildoers
shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the Lord, they shall inherit the earth.
10 For yet a little
while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his
place, and it shall not be.
11 But the meek shall
inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.
17 For the arms of
the wicked shall be broken: but the Lord upholdeth
the righteous.
18 The Lord knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall
be for ever.
19 They shall not be
ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.
22 For such as be
blessed of him shall inherit the earth; and they that be cursed of him shall be
cut off.
23 The steps of a
good man are ordered by the Lord:
and he delighteth in his way.
24 Though he fall, he
shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand.
25 I have been young,
and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed
begging bread.
26 He is ever
merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed.
27 Depart from evil,
and do good; and dwell for evermore.
28 For the Lord loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints; they are
preserved for ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.
29 The righteous
shall inherit the land, and dwell therein for ever.
30 The mouth of the
righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment.
31 The law of his God
is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.
32 The wicked
watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him.
33 The Lord will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is
judged.
34 Wait on the Lord, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land:
when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.
35 I have seen the wicked
in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree.
36 Yet he passed
away, and, lo, he was not: yea, I sought him, but he could not be found.
37 Mark the perfect
man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace.
38 But the transgressors
shall be destroyed together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off.
39 But the salvation
of the righteous is of the Lord:
he is their strength in the time of trouble.
40 And the Lord shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them
from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.
Chapter 38
15 For in thee,
O Lord, do I hope: thou wilt hear, O Lord
my God.
Chapter 40
4 Blessed is that
man that maketh the Lord his trust,
and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.
Chapter 41
1Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble.
2 The Lord will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be
blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his
enemies.
3 The Lord will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt
make all his bed in his sickness.
Chapter 42 (?)
7 Deep calleth unto
deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone
over me.
8 Yet the Lord will command his lovingkindness in the day time, and in the
night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.
Chapter 45 (?)
6 Thy throne, O God,
is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a right sceptre.
7 Thou lovest
righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed
thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
Chapter
46
1God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
2 Therefore will not
we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into
the midst of the sea;
3 Though the waters
thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling
thereof. Selah.
10 Be still, and know
that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the
earth.
11 The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
Chapter 47 (?)
2 For the Lord most high is terrible; he is a great King over all the
earth.
3 He shall subdue
the people under us, and the nations under our feet.
4 He shall choose
our inheritance for us, the excellency of Jacob whom he loved. Selah.
Chapter 48
14 For this God is
our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.
Chapter 49
15 But God will
redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. Selah.
Chapter 50
14 Offer unto God
thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the most High:
15 And call upon me
in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.
23 Whoso offereth
praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I
shew the salvation of God.
Chapter 51
7 Purge me with
hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
Chapter 54
4 Behold, God is
mine helper: the Lord is with them that uphold my soul.
5 He shall reward
evil unto mine enemies: cut them off in thy truth.
6 I will freely
sacrifice unto thee: I will praise thy name, O Lord; for it is good.
7 For he hath
delivered me out of all trouble: and mine eye hath seen his desire upon mine
enemies.
Chapter 55
16 As for me, I will
call upon God; and the Lord shall
save me.
17 Evening, and
morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.
22 Cast thy burden
upon the Lord, and he shall
sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.
23 But thou, O God,
shalt bring them down into the pit of destruction: bloody and deceitful men
shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in thee.
Chapter 56 (?)
3 What time I am
afraid, I will trust in thee.
4 In God I will
praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do
unto me.
8 Thou tellest my
wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book?
9 When I cry unto
thee, then shall mine enemies turn back: this I know; for God is for me.
10 In God will I
praise his word: in the Lord will
I praise his word.
11 In God have I put
my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me.
Chapter 57
Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul
trusteth in thee: yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until
these calamities be overpast.
2 I will cry unto
God most high; unto God that performeth all things for me.
3 He shall send from
heaven, and save me from the reproach of him that would swallow me up. Selah.
God shall send forth his mercy and his truth.
Chapter 59
8 But thou, O Lord, shalt laugh at them; thou shalt have all the heathen in
derision.
9 Because of his
strength will I wait upon thee: for God is my defence.
10 The God of my
mercy shall prevent me: God shall let me see my desire upon mine enemies.
Chapter 61
3 For thou hast been
a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.
Chapter 62
1Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation.
2 He only is my rock
and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.
5 My soul, wait thou
only upon God; for my expectation is from him.
6 He only is my rock
and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved.
7 In God is my
salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.
8 Trust in him at
all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us.
Selah.
Chapter 65
3 Iniquities prevail
against me: as for our transgressions, thou shalt purge them away.
4 Blessed is the man
whom thou choosest, and causest to approach unto thee, that he may dwell in thy
courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, even of thy holy
temple.
Chapter 68
35 O God, thou art
terrible out of thy holy places: the God of Israel is he that giveth strength
and power unto his people. Blessed be God.
Chapter 69
32 The humble shall
see this, and be glad: and your heart shall live that seek God.
33 For the Lord heareth the poor, and despiseth not his prisoners.
34 Let the heaven and
earth praise him, the seas, and every thing that moveth therein.
35 For God will save
Zion, and will build the cities of Judah: that they may dwell there, and have
it in possession.
36 The seed also of
his servants shall inherit it: and they that love his name shall dwell therein.
Chapter 70 (?)
5 But I am poor and
needy: make haste unto me, O God: thou art my help and my deliverer; O Lord, make no tarrying.
Chapter 71
20 Thou, which hast
shewed me great and sore troubles, shalt quicken me again, and shalt bring me
up again from the depths of the earth.
21 Thou shalt
increase my greatness, and comfort me on every side.
Chapter 72 (?)
6 He shall come down
like rain upon the mown grass: as showers that water the earth.
7 In his days shall
the righteous flourish; and abundance of peace so long as the moon endureth.
13 He shall spare the
poor and needy, and shall save the souls of the needy.
14 He shall redeem
their soul from deceit and violence: and precious shall their blood be in his
sight.
Chapter 73
23 Nevertheless I am
continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand.
24 Thou shalt guide
me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.
25 Whom have I in
heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.
26 My flesh and my
heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.
27 For, lo, they that
are far from thee shall perish: thou hast destroyed all them that go a whoring
from thee.
Chapter 84
4 Blessed are they
that dwell in thy house: they will be still praising thee. Selah.
5 Blessed is the man
whose strength is in thee; in whose heart are the ways of them.
6 Who passing
through the valley of Baca make it a well; the rain also filleth the pools.
7 They go from
strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appeareth before God.
8 O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer: give ear, O God of Jacob.
Selah.
9 Behold, O God our
shield, and look upon the face of thine anointed.
10 For a day in thy
courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of
my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.
11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold
from them that walk uprightly.
12 O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.
Chapter 86
5 For thou, Lord,
art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call
upon thee.
7 In the day of my
trouble I will call upon thee: for thou wilt answer me.
Chapter 89
15 Blessed is the
people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O Lord, in the light of thy countenance.
16 In thy name shall
they rejoice all the day: and in thy righteousness shall they be exalted.
17 For thou art the
glory of their strength: and in thy favour our horn shall be exalted.
18 For the Lord is our defence; and the Holy One of Israel is our king.
Chapter 91
1He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide
under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of
the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
3 Surely he shall
deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
4 He shall cover
thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall
be thy shield and buckler.
5 Thou shalt not be
afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
6 Nor for the
pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at
noonday.
7 A thousand shall
fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come
nigh thee.
8 Only with thine
eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
9 Because thou hast
made the Lord, which is my
refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
10 There shall no
evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
11 For he shall give
his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
12 They shall bear
thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
13 Thou shalt tread
upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under
feet.
14 Because he hath
set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high,
because he hath known my name.
15 He shall call upon
me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him,
and honour him.
16 With long life
will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.
Chapter 94
12 Blessed is the man
whom thou chastenest, O Lord,
and teachest him out of thy law;
13 That thou mayest
give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit be digged for the
wicked.
14 For the Lord will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his
inheritance.
15 But judgment shall
return unto righteousness: and all the upright in heart shall follow it.
Chapter 97
10 Ye that love
the Lord, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth
them out of the hand of the wicked.
11 Light is sown for
the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart.
Chapter 100
5 For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his
truth endureth to all generations.
Chapter 102 (?)
12 But thou, O Lord, shall endure for ever; and thy remembrance unto all generations.
13 Thou shalt arise,
and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is
come.
17 He will regard the
prayer of the destitute, and not despise their prayer.
27 But thou art the
same, and thy years shall have no end.
28 The children of
thy servants shall continue, and their seed shall be established before thee.
Chapter 103
6 The Lord executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are
oppressed.
7 He made known his
ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel.
8 The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in
mercy.
9 He will not always
chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever.
10 He hath not dealt
with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.
11 For as the heaven
is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.
12 As far as the east
is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.
13 Like as a father
pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth
them that fear him.
17 But the mercy of
the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him,
and his righteousness unto children's children;
18 To such as keep
his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them.
Chapter 106
3 Blessed are they
that keep judgment, and he that doeth righteousness at all times.
Chapter 107
9 For he satisfieth
the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.
Chapter 109
30 I will greatly
praise the Lord with my
mouth; yea, I will praise him among the multitude.
31 For he shall stand
at the right hand of the poor, to save him from those that condemn his soul.
Chapter 112
Praise ye the Lord.
Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord,
that delighteth greatly in his commandments.
2 His seed shall be
mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed.
3 Wealth and riches
shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth for ever.
4 Unto the upright
there ariseth light in the darkness: he is gracious, and full of compassion,
and righteous.
Chapter 115
11 Ye that fear
the Lord, trust in the Lord: he is their help and their shield.
Chapter 116
6 The Lord preserveth the simple: I was brought low,
and he helped me.
Chapter 118
6 The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: what can man
do unto me?
26 Blessed be he that
cometh in the name of the Lord: we have
blessed you out of the house of the Lord.
Chapter 119
1Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of
the Lord.
2 Blessed are they
that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart.
114 Thou art my hiding
place and my shield: I hope in thy word.
130 The entrance of
thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.
165 Great peace have
they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.
Chapter 121
3 He will not suffer
thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.
4 Behold, he that
keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand.
6 The sun shall not
smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.
7 The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy
soul.
8 The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this
time forth, and even for evermore.
Chapter 125
They that trust in the Lord shall
be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever.
2 As the mountains
are round about Jerusalem, so the Lord is
round about his people from henceforth even for ever.
3 For the rod of the
wicked shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous; lest the righteous put
forth their hands unto iniquity.
4 Do good, O Lord, unto those that be good, and to them that are upright in their
hearts.
5 As for such as
turn aside unto their crooked ways, the Lord shall lead them forth with the workers of iniquity: but
peace shall be upon Israel.
Chapter 126
5 They that sow in
tears shall reap in joy.
6 He that goeth
forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with
rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.
Chapter 127
5 Happy is the man
that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall
speak with the enemies in the gate.
Chapter 128
Blessed is every one that feareth the Lord; that walketh in his ways.
2 For thou shalt eat
the labour of thine hands: happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee.
3 Thy wife shall be
as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house: thy children like olive plants
round about thy table.
4 Behold, that thus
shall the man be blessed that feareth the Lord.
5 The Lord shall bless thee out of Zion: and thou shalt see the good of
Jerusalem all the days of thy life.
6 Yea, thou shalt
see thy children's children, and peace upon Israel.
Chapter 130
7 Let Israel hope in
the Lord: for with the Lord there
is mercy, and with him is plenteous redemption.
8 And he shall
redeem Israel from all his iniquities.
Chapter 138
3 In the day when I
cried thou answeredst me, and strengthenedst me with strength in my soul.
4 All the kings of
the earth shall praise thee, O Lord,
when they hear the words of thy mouth.
5 Yea, they shall
sing in the ways of the Lord:
for great is the glory of the Lord.
6 Though the Lord be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly: but the proud
he knoweth afar off.
7 Though I walk in
the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand
against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me.
8 The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O Lord, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands.
Chapter 140
13 Surely the
righteous shall give thanks unto thy name: the upright shall dwell in thy
presence.
Chapter 142
7 Bring my soul out
of prison, that I may praise thy name: the righteous shall compass me about;
for thou shalt deal bountifully with me.
Chapter 144
2 My goodness, and
my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I
trust; who subdueth my people under me.
15 Happy is that
people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is
the Lord.
Chapter 145
13 Thy kingdom is an
everlasting kingdom, and thy dominion endureth throughout all generations.
14 The Lord upholdeth all that fall, and raiseth up all those that be
bowed down.
15 The eyes of all
wait upon thee; and thou givest them their meat in due season.
16 Thou openest thine
hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing.
17 The Lord is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works.
18 The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call
upon him in truth.
19 He will fulfil the
desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them.
20 The Lord preserveth all them that love him: but all the wicked will
he destroy.
Chapter 146
5 Happy is he that
hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God:
6 Which made heaven,
and earth, the sea, and all that therein is: which keepeth truth for ever:
7 Which executeth
judgment for the oppressed: which giveth food to the hungry. The Lord looseth the prisoners:
8 The Lord openeth the eyes of the blind: the Lord raiseth them that are bowed down: the Lord loveth the righteous:
9 The Lord preserveth the strangers; he relieveth the fatherless and
widow: but the way of the wicked he turneth upside down.
10 The Lord shall reign for ever, even thy God, O Zion, unto all
generations. Praise ye the Lord.
Chapter 147
6 The Lord lifteth up the meek: he casteth the wicked
down to the ground.
Chapter 149
4 For the Lord taketh pleasure in his people: he will
beautify the meek with salvation.
Chapter 1
6 Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.
9 Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man,
and he will increase in learning.
Chapter 10
3 The Lord will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish: but he casteth
away the substance of the wicked.
4 He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent
maketh rich.
5 He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is
a son that causeth shame.
6 Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of
the wicked.
7 The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot.
16 The labour of the righteous tendeth to life: the fruit of the wicked to sin.
17 He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth
reproof erreth.
22 The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.
24 The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him: but the desire of the
righteous shall be granted.
25 As the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is an
everlasting foundation.
26 As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to
them that send him.
27 The fear of the Lord prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be
shortened.
28 The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the
wicked shall perish.
29 The way of the Lord is strength to the upright: but destruction shall be to
the workers of iniquity.
30 The righteous shall never be removed: but the wicked shall not inhabit the
earth.
31 The mouth of the just bringeth forth wisdom: but the froward tongue shall be
cut out.
32 The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable: but the mouth of the
wicked speaketh frowardness.
Chapter 11
25 The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered
also himself.
Chapter 12
3 A man shall not be established by wickedness: but the root of the righteous
shall not be moved.
7 The wicked are overthrown, and are not: but the house of the righteous shall
stand.
12 The wicked desireth the net of evil men: but the root of the righteous
yieldeth fruit.
13 The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips: but the just shall
come out of trouble.
14 A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth: and the
recompence of a man's hands shall be rendered unto him.
19 The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but
for a moment.
20 Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the counsellors of
peace is joy.
21 There shall no evil happen to the just: but the wicked shall be filled with
mischief.
28 In the way of righteousness is life: and in the pathway thereof there is no
death.
Chapter 13
2 A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth: but the soul of the transgressors
shall eat violence.
3 He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips
shall have destruction.
4 The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the
diligent shall be made fat.
13 Whoso despiseth the word shall be destroyed: but he that feareth the
commandment shall be rewarded.
14 The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of
death.
21 Evil pursueth sinners: but to the righteous good shall be repayed.
Chapter 14
3 In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall
preserve them.
11 The house of the wicked shall be overthrown: but the tabernacle of the
upright shall flourish.
14 The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man
shall be satisfied from himself.
18 The simple inherit folly: but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.
21 He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth: but he that hath mercy on the poor,
happy is he.
22 Do they not err that devise evil? but mercy and truth shall be to them that
devise good.
23 In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to
penury.
24 The crown of the wise is their riches: but the foolishness of fools is
folly.
25 A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful witness speaketh lies.
26 In the fear of the Lord is strong confidence: and his children shall have a
place of refuge.
27 The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of
death.
32 The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in
his death.
34 Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.
Chapter 15
16 Better is little with the fear of the Lord than great treasure and trouble
therewith.
29 The Lord is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.
Chapter 16
3 Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.
7 When a man's ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace
with him.
17 The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way
preserveth his soul.
18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
19 Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the
spoil with the proud.
20 He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the
Lord, happy is he.
21 The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips
increaseth learning.
Chapter 17
22 A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the
bones.
Chapter 18
10 The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and
is safe.
Chapter 19
8 He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: he that keepeth understanding
shall find good.
9 A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall
perish.
15 Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer
hunger.
16 He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; but he that despiseth
his ways shall die.
17 He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the Lord; and that which he
hath given will he pay him again.
23 The fear of the Lord tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide
satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.
Chapter 20
7 The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him.
13 Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty; open thine eyes, and thou shalt
be satisfied with bread.
22 Say not thou, I will recompense evil; but wait on the Lord, and he shall
save thee.
Chapter 21
21 He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness,
and honour.
23 Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.
31 The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the Lord.
Chapter 22
4 By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches, and honour, and life.
5 Thorns and snares are in the way of the froward: he that doth keep his soul
shall be far from them.
11 He that loveth pureness of heart, for the grace of his lips the king shall
be his friend.
12 The eyes of the Lord preserve knowledge, and he overthroweth the words of
the transgressor.
15 Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction
shall drive it far from him.
Chapter 23
17 Let not thine heart envy sinners: but be thou in the fear of the Lord all
the day long.
18 For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off.
24 The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that begetteth a
wise child shall have joy of him.
Chapter 24
14 So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it,
then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off.
15 Lay not wait, O wicked man, against the dwelling of the righteous; spoil not
his resting place:
16 For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked
shall fall into mischief.
25 But to them that rebuke him shall be delight, and a good blessing shall come
upon them.
Chapter 25
21 If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give
him water to drink:
22 For thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the Lord shall reward
thee.
Chapter 26
10 The great God that formed all things both rewardeth the fool, and rewardeth
transgressors.
Chapter 28
2 For the transgression of a land many are the princes thereof: but by a man of
understanding and knowledge the state thereof shall be prolonged.
10 Whoso causeth the righteous to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall
himself into his own pit: but the upright shall have good things in possession.
13 He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and
forsaketh them shall have mercy.
14 Happy is the man that feareth alway: but he that hardeneth his heart shall
fall into mischief.
16 The prince that wanteth understanding is also a great oppressor: but he that
hateth covetousness shall prolong his days.
18 Whoso walketh uprightly shall be saved: but he that is perverse in his ways
shall fall at once.
19 He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread: but he that followeth
after vain persons shall have poverty enough.
20 A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be
rich shall not be innocent.
22 He that hasteth to be rich hath an evil eye, and considereth not that
poverty shall come upon him.
25 He that is of a proud heart stirreth up strife: but he that putteth his
trust in the Lord shall be made fat.
26 He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he
shall be delivered.
27 He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack: but he that hideth his eyes
shall have many a curse.
Chapter 29
14 The king that faithfully judgeth the poor, his throne shall be established
for ever.
15 The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his
mother to shame.
17 Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight
unto thy soul.
18 Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law,
happy is he.
23 A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in
spirit.
25 The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the Lord
shall be safe.
Chapter 30
5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in
him.
Chapter 31
30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord,
she shall be praised.
